Whole Body Vibration for Every Patient in Your Practice

WBV-1After having been in practice for over 30 years, I have noticed some significant changes in the way patients behave. I think it is no surprise for you to hear that people the more stressed out than ever.

What does that mean for your office? The patient is overwhelmed, rushed, on the phone or texting until the moment they walk into the treatment room. I even had patients answer the phone while getting a treatment, despite a ban on cell phones in our office. It blew me away!

How ready is the body and it’s neurological system to receive a chiropractic adjustment? Often their brain/computer is so locked up they hardly notice the impact we are making on their system with the adjustment.

Let me share with you a simple way making a difference.

In my office we have every patient step onto the A3 Whole Body Vibration unit as soon as they step into the office. We have them do some simple balance exercises. We do this because their brain HAS to focus on posture and balance. Theneurologic input of the vibration plate creates what I call a massive “afferent barrage” neurologically and proprioceptively, which inevitably lets the patient forget about everything else. They have to be present and focused in order to not fall over.

Since I have been implementing this little trick, my patients are much more aware during the actual chiropractic treatment because we challenged and stimulated the neurologic pathways that effect change via neuroplasticity! I have noticed that patients take the adjustment better and generally become more involved with their own care again.

This little trick literally takes only 3 to 4 minutes! Without needing a staff member to attend to the patient, it is a extremely cost-effective way getting better results with every patient.

The A3 Whole Body Vibration plates are very affordable, have a small footprint, and consequently are a worthwhile simple investment for any chiropractic office!

I have recently written a book outlining the various reasons for integrating whole body vibration into your practice. Please contact Pivotal Health Solutions to get your free download e-book and read more about this phenomenal therapy.

I am certain you will be intrigued!

ChiroHealthUSA Announces Record Breaking Donations to Chiropractic in 2015

FLOWOOD, Mississippi – ChiroHealthUSA, a provider-owned network that works in conjunction with a Discount Medical Plan Organization (DMPO), announced today that a record breaking $212,000 was donated back to the profession in 2015 with more than $700,000 donated since 2007. The donations are made possible by over 3,000 participating providers and their teams who offer ChiroHealthUSA to their patients, making health care in their offices affordable.

“Giving back to a profession that has meant so much to me and my family has been our goal from day one,” said Dr. Ray Foxworth, President, ChiroHealthUSA.

In 2015, ChiroHealthUSA also announced the creation of The Foxworth Family Chiropractic Scholarship, in honor of Dr. Foxworth’s parents, Drs. Betty Pace Matthews and Charles Vernon Mathews. This scholarship will award $10,000 to one chiropractic student each year, beginning this year. In addition, ChiroHealthUSA will make a $10,000 donation to the winning student’s chiropractic college.

When asked what motivated him to provide such strong support for the profession, Dr. Foxworth responded, “My mom started practice as a single mother in 1968, with no insurance reimbursement and no license in the state of Mississippi. She remarried shortly after entering practice and I can remember the struggles we had. We ate our meals around a folding army surplus table, which I have to this day. X-rays were developed in garbage cans and I specifically recall her being down to her last 37 cents and wondering where the next new patient was coming from. My folks never gave up. That is love for a profession and I experienced it first-hand. I’ve always wanted more for this profession, so none of us ever has to experience anything like that.”

ChiroHealthUSA partners with many state and national organizations including, the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters, the World Federation of Chiropractic and over 30 state associations.

“We are all part of chiropractic,” said Dr. Foxworth “and we all need to help, invest and support the advancement of our profession.”

Founded in 2007, ChiroHealthUSA is a simple, compliant and profitable way for chiropractors to both protect and grow their practices.

Council on Chiropractic Education Call for Comment on Draft 2 of CCE Accreditation Standards

Hellertown, PA – October 27, 2015 – The Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) has issued a “Call for Comment” of their “Draft 2 CCE Accreditation Standards.” The International Federation of Chiropractors and Organizations has reviewed the draft and provided comments. Of particular concern was the use of the terms “Primary Care” and “Primary Care Physician,” “Subluxation/Joint Dysfunction,” and “Adjustment/Manipulation.”

The International Federation of Chiropractors and Organizations (IFCO) cited numerous references (World Health Organization [WHO], American Academy of Family Practice [AAFP], and Institute of Medicine [IOM]) which define the terms “Primary Care” and “Primary Care Physician.” IFCO objected to the use of those terms because many, if not most procedures termed “primary care” as commonly defined, are not within the scope of chiropractic practice in any jurisdiction. These include, by example, family planning; immunization against the major infectious diseases; prevention and control of locally endemic diseases; appropriate treatment of common diseases and injuries; and provision of essential drugs. There are conflicting definitions of primary care and primary care physician. Under the WHO definition, for example, primary care must include a number of services, such as the provision of drugs and vaccines, which are outside the scope of chiropractic practice, and incompatible with chiropractic practice. The IFCO recommended that the term “Primary Care” be removed from the document. In addition, IFCO recommended that the term “primary care chiropractic physician” be replaced with “doctor of chiropractic” and that the term “Primary Health Care” in the Glossary be removed.

For the sake of clarity and proper use of punctuation, the IFCO has recommended that “subluxation/joint dysfunction” be replaced with “subluxation, or joint dysfunction, or both.” The same argument is applicable to “Adjustment/Manipulation” and, as such, the IFCO recommended that “adjustment/manipulation” be replaced with “adjustment, or manipulation, or both.” The IFCO acknowledges that “Joint Dysfunction” and “Subluxation” are not synonyms, nor are “Adjustment and Manipulation.”

The entire IFCO document may be viewed on the IFCO website www.ifcochiro.org.

Colloca Earns PhD in Kinesiology from Arizona State University

Phoenix, ARIZONA – Chandler, Arizona based chiropractor, inventor, and CEO, Dr. Christopher J. Colloca carried the College of Health Solutions banner leading the procession of colleges at Arizona State University’s Commencement ceremony on Monday, December 14, 2015. Michael M. Crow, PhD, President of the University conferred the Doctorate degree, a PhD in Kinesiology, to Dr. Colloca and the other graduates at Wells Fargo Arena on ASU’s main campus in Tempe. Asked about the Banner Marshall honors, Colloca joked, “I was probably asked to carry it because I’m the oldest one getting my doctorate today.”

Chris originally enrolled at Arizona State in 2003 in the Master’s program of the Department of Kinesiology to improve his research skills. He took courses part-time in between his other two jobs, directing a full-time chiropractic practice and overseeing his new Chandler based medical device technology and education company, Neuromechanical Innovations. He found a home in ASU’s Department of Kinesiology, where he could study coursework in both biomechanics and motor control (neuroscience) as well as learn research methodology and become trained in statistipress001cs. In the years that followed the Kinesiology program became part of the School of Nutrition and Health Promotion and finally the Master’s program matriculated into the PhD Kinesiology Program in Arizona State’s College of Health Solutions. Dr. Colloca’s great sense of gratitude is appreciated in his Dissertation Thesis where he acknowledges his advisor and committee and the University for having become formally trained as a scientist. Dr. Colloca’s dissertation entitled, Biomechanical evaluation of a cervical intervertebral disc degeneration model, is the first to examine the spine’s stiffness and motion response during chiropractic interventions to understand the effect of disc degeneration on the biomechanical response. Dr. Colloca’s research supports the medical device technology that his company has patented, providing chiropractic doctors with more objective means to determine when spinal joints are dysfunctional and how to better determine how much treatment is necessary to improve joint motion with chiropractic treatment. Colloca’s inventions, the Impulse Adjusting Instruments® are currently in use in over 10,000 chiropractic offices in over 50 countries worldwide.

Colloca’s career path began at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, just 90 minutes’ drive from his home town of Oswego, NY. Chris studied Exercise and Sport Science and received his Bachelor of Science (BS) from Ithaca College in 1990. At Ithaca he lettered in Football over four years, winning a Division III National Championship in 1988 and earned All-American honors from his inside linebacker position in 1990. He also won the Richard D. Lyon Memorial Scholarship and was chosen by his peers as team co-captain in 1990.

Having a passion for education, after graduation Chris enrolled in the Master’s program in Education at State University College of New York at Oswego and received graduate assistant football coaching offers from Albany State University and Springfield College in Massachusetts. He began taking courses and working in construction, a job that had helped spress002upport him throughout his high school and college years. He developed carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms that led him to seek out a local chiropractor. The chiropractic experience led him to enroll at Life College School of Chiropractic where he graduated four years later cum laude with his Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree in 1995. He immediately went into private practice two weeks following graduation and also began teaching post-graduate educational courses for chiropractors that same year. “I think I’ve always worked two jobs,” Dr. Colloca said. “It’s easy when you love what you do, and it’s the easiest way to get ahead financially,” he added.

Colloca used the funds from the success of his chiropractic practice and post-graduate seminars to start Neuromechanical Innovations, and finance the research and development of a new chiropractic adjusting instrument. Fifteen years later, Dr. Colloca finds himself as the CEO overseeing 26 employees and traveling over 200,000 miles annually to provide clinical training to to the doctors who use the Impulse® instruments. Much of the appeal of the use of the Impulse Instruments is the basic science research behind the devices. Over the past 15 years, Colloca has published over 50 papers in some of the best journals in spine science after spearheading a multi-disciplinary research collaboration that has produced a unique team of chiropractors working together with orthopedic surgeons, biomedical engineers, pathologists, and statisticians. This research has won awards at scientific conferences within the chiropractic field as well as in orthopedics. With the completion of his PhD, he aims to increase his research activities while continuing to develop new technologies to help equip his colleagues advance the chiropractic profession.
