Old Bridge, New Jersey (November 28, 2016) – Dr. Anthony J. DeLuca, director of DeLuca Family Chiropractic in Old Bridge, New Jersey, recently attended to the medical needs of hundreds of Olympic hopefuls and athletes working out at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. Dr. DeLuca was chosen for this two-week internship based on his chiropractic expertise and the medical services provided at numerous national and international events over the past 20 years

“This was a tremendous opportunity that not only provided the ability to work with some of the best athletes in the country, but also share and gain valued knowledge with many of the nation’s finest trainers, coaches, and medical professionals,” said DeLuca. “We were all there for two reasons – to learn and grow as experts in our respective fields and be part of this very special atmosphere, which is actively dedicated to advancing the skill sets of individuals looking to represent the U.S. on the world stage.”

The Chula Vista Olympic Training Center is a 155-acre complex located adjacent to the Lower Otay Reservoir in San Diego County. The year-round, warm-weather facility is committed to developing future Olympic athletes. It includes sport venues and support facilities supporting the Olympic sports of archery, BMX, canoe/kayak, cycling, field hockey, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and triathlon.

A Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and personal fitness trainer, DeLuca cared for athletes suffering from a multitude of traumatic and overuse injuries such as tennis elbow, hip pointers, groin pulls. and neck, back, shoulder hamstring, quadricep and glute strains and sprains.  From October 2 – 16 at Chula Vista, -these services involved rapidly assessing the severity of on-field injuries, performing orthopedic and neurological exams, and treating patients both onsite and in the center’s clinic. Therapies included soft tissue and manual manipulation, kenesio taping, and recommendations for strengthening and stretching exercises to relieve pain and increase range-of-motion.

“It was a deeply rewarding experience that provided a far greater understanding of the athletic needs of competitors performing in a wide range of sports,” explains DeLuca. “Learning and growing are keys to this profession and the delivery of the highest levels of care to office patients. My goal is to continue on this path, while one-day hopefully serving my country as a USOC medical professional at an upcoming Olympics.”

Dr. De Luca founded DeLuca Family Chiropractic in 1989 to provide a supportive environment to patients looking for gentle, effective and safe methods for treating pain and achieving optimal health and wellness.

In 2015, Dr. DeLuca was chosen by the Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport (FICS) to support the medical needs of athletes participating in the 4th International Workers and Amateurs in Sports Confederation (CSIT) World Sports Games in Lignano, Italy.
