ChiroTouch Shows Support of Final Rules for the CMS EHR Incentive Program

San Diego, CA—October ___, 2015—ChiroTouch™, the nation’s leader in chiropractic software, announced its support of the recent final rules for the CMS EHR Incentive Program released on October 6th, 2015.

“Among our top priorities are being on the leading edge of healthcare information and helping the chiropractor have a louder voice in the healthcare system.  Rulings like these are critical for our doctors and we are pleased to see the change in the rules to simplify the program and create a shorter reporting period for 2015.  While our software has been ready to accommodate this program, it’s encouraging to see that it’s now easier than ever for eligible providers to comply with the program requirements,” said Robert Moberg, CEO of ChiroTouch.

The simplification of the new Modified Stage 2 rules and the upcoming 2018 Stage 3 rules will align all providers with the same 9 objectives in the EHR Incentive Program. ChiroTouch has analyzed the new rules and its technology is compliant. ChiroTouch is certified to the required objectives for Meaningful Use and has implemented methods to make it easy to track and comply inside both its ChiroTouch and SmartCloud EHR software systems.

“Our goal and commitment to the chiropractic profession is to deliver technology solutions and critical information for regulation compliance, improve patient management for better care delivery, and aggregate data to prove the cost and clinical effectiveness of chiropractic care,” added Robert. “We are in full support of the chiropractic profession and do everything we can to help these doctors be an integral part of a patient’s healthcare choice and healthcare conversation.  In the end, this helps the American healthcare system, society, and the overall success of the practice of chiropractic.”

The benefits of EHR go far beyond compliance with federal standards for interoperability, HIPAA security, and digital messaging with patients and other outside providers. The office efficiencies created by EHR technology allow for better patient care and management as well as better record documentation and clinic profitability.  The EHR incentive program is now about collaboration with all healthcare providers, imaging centers, hospitals and the ability to digitally communicate patient care and involve patients through digital engagement. The combination of Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) penalties, Meaningful Use payment reductions and the new value-based modifier program will reduce Medicare reimbursement income to chiropractors by over 6% starting in 2017 and increasing each year thereafter. Doctors who participate will avoid these payment reductions.
