Parker College of Chiropractic Opens State of the Art Standard Process Student Activity Center
A festive celebration marked the official grand opening of the Standard Process Student Activity Center located on Parker College of Chiropractic’s campus. Standard Process Inc.®, a nutritional food supplement manufacturer, bestowed a generous one million dollar donation to Parker College to help advance the college’s academic potential and to further the education of future doctors of chiropractic. Part of the donation was used to support renovations and the naming of a new state-of-the-art student activity center which is stocked with the latest workout and weight training equipment that will be used by students, faculty, and staff. The two-story activity center also includes a gymnasium, locker rooms, and student lounge. The gymnasium, when converted to an auditorium, accommodates 1200 people for assemblies, graduations, and special programs.
The Standard Process Student Activity Center will help to maintain the health and wellness philosophy that Parker College promotes. It will assist in producing positive lifestyle choices and a healthy environment. Standard Process is devoted to improving the quality of life by providing the safest, most effective, highest quality dietary supplements through health care professionals.

Sherman Returns to Original Name: Sherman College of Chiropractic
Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic is now known as Sherman College of Chiropractic. The college’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to authorize the college’s name change on October 17, 2009, during its fall meeting.
Sherman College of Chiropractic is the name under which the college was founded in 1973; the college added the word “straight” to the name in the late 1970’s.
“The college will always remain true to its roots, providing a curricular focus on traditional chiropractic,” says Sherman president Jon C. Schwartzbauer, D.C. “Our founding name better reflects who we are–a contemporary educational institution committed to providing the best education possible, an institution with a strong commitment to educational progress, and an institution geared to meeting the demands of chiropractic students, both today and in the future.”
College personnel will spend the coming months revising college promotional materials as well as the college web site to reflect the change.
Foundation for Chiropractic Progress Launches 50-State Advertising Campaign: Partners with State Associations, Chiropractic Colleges
The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (www.f4cp.com), architect of the chiropractic profession’s longest running public awareness campaign, announces the launch of a national media sweep to place advertisements in at least one major newspaper in every State. The “State-2-State” campaign, which rolls out in early 2010, will give state associations and chiropractic colleges an opportunity to partner with the Foundation to increase the size and frequency of the advertisement for additional exposure.
“We already have several state associations and colleges that are moving forward, and are gratified that the Foundation is fulfilling its mission to make media campaigns like this possible,” states Kent S. Greenawalt, chairman and director of the Foundation. “Not only does this grass roots campaign give the chiropractic profession attention in local and regional media, but it also provides a unified message for the entire profession. We want to reach health care decision-makers at every level–from government and health plan executives to consumers.”
As a participating partner in the “State-2-State” campaign, organizations will enjoy multiple benefits:
• Access to specific Foundation ads–www.foundation4cp.com/communications.htm
• Collaboration in the selection of the targeted newspaper or publication
• Their logo and web address included in the featured advertisement

Palmer College of Chiropractic Announces New Chancellor
Following what might be the most expansive search for a chiropractic college leader in the history of the profession, the Palmer College of Chiropractic Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the unanimous selection of Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Ph.D., D.A.C.B.R., as chancellor of Palmer College.
Dr. Marchiori was approved by the Board of Trustees at its October 30, 2009, meeting in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. He was recommended to the full Board after a comprehensive interview process led by a Board-appointed, seven-member ad hoc Succession Planning and Search Committee.
“For more than a century, Palmer College has been leading the chiropractic profession and contributing to the communities surrounding our campuses,” said Dr. Marchiori. “I am honored to continue the successes of the past including recent regional accreditation and growing extramural research grants, as we advance the College through its next phase of accomplishments. We have energized students and a dedicated team of staff, faculty and administrators to promote our educational mission. Palmer College is an exceptional organization and well-positioned for future success. I’m truly honored to have been selected chancellor.”
In assuming the chancellor role, Dr. Marchiori will succeed Mr. William Wilke, a respected Quad-City area businessman and a member of the Palmer Board since 1998. In December 2008, following the departure of Chancellor Larry Patten, the Board asked Mr. Wilke to serve until a complete and thorough search could be conducted. An investiture ceremony is being planned for early this year.
