Lombard – National University of Health Sciences has signed an agreement with Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, to offer a rotating clerkship for student interns in the doctor of chiropractic program. The new clerkship is one of several partnership agreements that NUHS has with Veterans Health Administration facilities nationwide.

Each intern will serve a 4-6 week clerkship, with one intern per assigned period. The university hopes to begin its first clerkship rotation in the new program by early summer.

“This program, like all of the partnerships we have established throughout the country, will provide great benefit to our interns,” says Dr. Theodore Johnson, dean of clinics for NUHS. “The numbers and variety of patients seen in such an environment will be valuable for their clinical education.  They will also gain experience in interacting with other professionals in an integrative setting.”

“We are fortunate to have one of own, Dr. Jason Gibson, an alum of NUHS, overseeing the clerkship at this VA.  He is familiar with the rigor and the expectations of the university and is quite capable of providing the selected interns with enhanced clinical experiences,” says Dr. Johnson.

“The new clerkship at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center adds to a growing list of exciting clinical opportunities for our students,” says President Joseph Stiefel of NUHS. “Not only will our interns be bringing their training in chiropractic medicine to those who have served our country, they will also gain unique experience that will broaden their skills as future physicians.”
