TCC Names Dr. Stephen Foster President

PASADENA, Texas – The Texas Chiropractic College (TCC) Board of Regents has named Stephen Foster, DC, F.I.C.C. as the institution’s 15th president. Dr. Foster has spent more than 25 years with TCC as a student, faculty member and administrator, most recently as Provost.  Dr. Foster’s effective date as President is July 18, 2016.

The board truly appreciates the broad participation of the TCC community in the presidential search process,” stated Dr. Monte Blue, Chairman of the TCC Board of Regents.  “After a lengthy, thoughtful and active interview process which included all stakeholders, the board met this past Saturday morning, July 9, 2016 to select the new president.  Dr. Foster was unanimously elected to lead TCC”.

Dr. Foster graduated from TCC in 1990 and had a successful practice in Spring, Texas prior to returning to his alma mater in 1994.  As an attending clinician, he accepted the responsibility of passing on his knowledge and developing the clinical skills needed for future doctors of chiropractic.  Between 1995 and 2012 Dr. Foster accepted more and more responsibilities in administrative positions. These roles included Student Clinic Director, Clinic Chief of Staff, Director of Clinics, and Director of Clinical Experiences.  He was the founding Director of Assessment and Development, establishing TCC’s innovative Assessment Center as the standard in chiropractic education. In addition to his clinical teaching experience, Dr. Foster has taught numerous courses at TCC and, most recently, has maintained strong relationships with faculty, staff and students as the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost.

It is an honor and a privilege to be entrusted by the board to lead my alma mater,” shared Dr. Foster. “To have such strong support from the board, faculty, staff and students is humbling and a responsibility I do not take lightly. As one of the oldest chiropractic colleges, TCC has a distinguished 108-year history. I look forward to working closely with the whole TCC community, especially our many alumni around the world to ensure a bright future.”

Dr. Foster has made it a priority to be an active member of his community, both personally and professionally. A life-long resident of the Gulf Coast area, he attended San Jacinto College for his pre-chiropractic studies prior to enrolling at Texas Chiropractic College. He has served on the board of directors for both the Bridge Over Troubled Waters and the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce.  Professionally, he has shared his expertise in chiropractic and chiropractic education authoring numerous publications. Additionally, Dr. Foster served the profession by serving on numerous national committees including the Test Committee for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Site Team Academy for the Council on Chiropractic Education, and as an Elected Councilor for the Council on Chiropractic Education.

“Throughout its history, Texas Chiropractic College has been a leader in the education of new chiropractors” noted Dr. Monte Blue. “With his extensive background in chiropractic education we, the board, believe Dr. Foster is the right person to lead TCC for many years to come.”
