Better Outcomes and Income with New Foot Levelers Single-Foot Kiosk

New technology allows patients to scan themselves, saving staff time; shareable Report of Findings boosts referrals

Foot Levelers single foot Kiosk ed

ROANOKE, VA—September 18, 2017Celebrating 65 years of serving Chiropractic, Foot Levelers has introduced its latest advancement, the single-foot Kiosk. This revolutionary scanning device is designed to help healthcare providers save time, ensure all patients are scanned for orthotics, and increase referrals to their practice.

Patients Scan Themselves, Orthotic Usage Increases: Statistics prove that the Foot Levelers Kiosk helps doctors increase the number of patients they fit for custom orthotics. By going in the practice’s reception area, the Kiosk allows patients to scan themselves, before the doctor’s exam even begins. This saves the staff time, allowing them to spend more time reviewing the comprehensive Report of Findings with each patient.

Doctors who have already integrated the Kiosk into their practices have seen orthotic usage skyrocket, some by as much as 100%. Better outcomes for patients, better income for the practice.

Shareable Report of Findings, Increase Referrals: The Foot Levelers single-foot Kiosk offers two Report of Findings. The most comprehensive is the doctor’s version, which should be reviewed with every patient.

But new to the Kiosk software is a Report of Findings that is emailed to each patient, before they even step off the scanner. This new report is shareable on several social media platforms. When the report is shared with friends and family, referrals to the practice increase, resulting in a steady stream of new patients.

Invitation to Foot Levelers Training Center: With each single-foot Kiosk comes an invitation to one of Foot Levelers’ FREE Training Center events. The Training Center is an extensive, half-day session that focuses on improving outcomes and income through increased orthotic usage. Data shows attendees of the Training Center have seen an increase in orthotic usage by up to 400%.

The new, single-foot scanning Kiosk is part of an ongoing story of growth for the 65-year-old company. Started as a small, family business in Dubuque, Iowa in 1952, today Foot Levelers serves thousands of providers and millions of patients in over 85 countries. In 2014, Foot Levelers opened an office in Sydney, Australia, followed by a second in Belgrade, Serbia in 2016. Foot Levelers has long been the leader in orthotics for Chiropractic patients, with an expanding presence in Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Family Medicine, Massage Therapy, and Acupuncture, among other health disciplines.

In September, the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation published a watershed study proving that Foot Levelers custom orthotics, particularly in conjunction with Chiropractic care, significantly reduce Low Back Pain (LBP)—by 40.4 percent. This study is critically important because the National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports 80 percent of adults experience LBP. LBP is the single leading cause of disability worldwide, with many patients taking dangerous opioids for relief. “Foot Levelers and Chiropractic can make a difference in the opioid crisis,” Greenawalt adds.

National University of Health Sciences partners with University of Western States to expand continuing education offerings

Dr. Joseph Stiefel & Dr. Joseph BrimhallCHICAGO — National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) and University of Western States (UWS) have agreed to combine resources to expand continuing education (CE) opportunities for health care providers.

The new agreement will allow each university to serve a larger pool of practitioners and students in a more efficient manner. Both universities will develop a shared calendar for programs that will include online courses along with new live and pre-recorded webinars. National University will provide CE licensing for all coursework.

“Participants will benefit from the combined programs of both campuses as well as the additional online course offerings,” said Dr. Jenna Glenn, dean of the NUHS Lincoln College of Postgraduate and Continuing Education.

“This collaboration will enhance our ability to provide high quality continuing education programs to a broader range of constituents,” Alisa Fairweather, MPH, director of Continuing Education at University of Western States, added.

National University and University of Western States previously partnered with the signing of an articulation agreement in 2015. That agreement provided UWS students in the doctor of chiropractic (DC) program the opportunity to complete a doctor of naturopathic medicine (ND) degree at NUHS with advanced standing, saving both time and expense.

“We are excited to enhance our collaboration efforts with University of Western States,” said NUHS President Dr. Joseph Stiefel. “We are continually seeking new ways to make it easier for practicing health care providers to stay up to date on advances in the industry.”

“This partnership allows us to create institutional efficiencies,” said UWS President Dr. Joseph Brimhall. “It also means both universities will combine creative forces to provide cutting-edge continuing professional education to a broader and more diverse community of chiropractic physicians, naturopathic physicians, massage therapists and other healthcare providers.”

Students will be able to register for new collaborative continuing education courses starting in September 2017.

National University of Health Sciences, a not-for-profit educational institution with locations in Illinois and Florida, was founded in 1906. Logan University Lays Groundwork for Future Growth in Sports Chiropractic

Logan Universityby David Parish, DC, MS, CSCS, DACBSP, ICCSP

Logan University values integrated care opportunities for its students. Through partnerships with local organizations, students have been able to dip their toes into all the facets of chiropractic, from pediatrics to sports, and benefit from real-world experience before the diploma reaches their hands.

It was nearly 10 years ago that Logan first introduced the Master’s in Sports Science and Rehabilitation, a degree program that complemented the flagship Doctor of Chiropractic degree and offered a specialized focus for sports injury management.

As leaders in the area, we took on the responsibility of providing students the experience, training and confidence needed to work with modern-day athletes. Today, the sports science and rehabilitation program has made a name for itself in the area of athletic performance. Logan students are afforded the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary clinical settings with professional, collegiate and high school sports teams, while athletes benefit from chiropractic care designed to maximize performance and prevent injuries.

As our program and enrollment has grown, so has the number of partnerships with elite athletic programs at institutions such as the University of Missouri and Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis.

And we continue to lay the groundwork for future growth.

Last fall 2015, Logan began a partnership with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), providing an educational opportunity in a clinical sports medicine setting for Logan student interns, while simultaneously providing the benefit of chiropractic care to SIUE student athletes in conjunction with its current athletic training program.

Through the partnership, Logan student interns provide chiropractic care to SIUE student athletes under the supervision of Lacey Miller, DC, resident in Logan’s Human Performance Center, and other clinicians and Doctors of Chiropractic. This gives students an opportunity to work in an integrated setting with physicians and athletic trainers on SIUE’s campus, and work on a one-on-one basis with the student athletes themselves.

At SIUE, Logan interns work alongside Dr. Miller to provide care to 16 to 20 student athletes a week in a variety of sports, particularly women’s volleyball, soccer and basketball, and men’s soccer, wrestling, and, most recently, basketball. The interns visit the Edwardsville campus twice a week, allowing SIUE athletes the chance to receive follow-up care within the same week. In addition, we are working on expanding the partnership to include pregame care.

The result? Athletes receive immediate, personalized care and our students gain valuable knowledge in an integrated health care environment.

Not only is the partnership beneficial for both universities, but it is also beneficial for chiropractic as a whole. It validates chiropractic’s role in sports in providing the ability to maximize performance, but also in treating injuries and helping to prevent future injuries.

The more we work with the student athletes, the more we find that the athletes rely on us for care. The athletes, too, become more knowledgeable about chiropractic and how it can help their game. In short, the relationship with SIUE, and with other institutions and organizations we’ve partnered with, is health care integration at its finest.

Those who we work with say that the relationship is symbiotic in that it provides an educational opportunity for Logan students, while also benefitting SIUE with chiropractic care.

Logan has been successful at building relationships with top athletes who have the potential to be drafted into professional sports teams through consistent and quality chiropractic care, keeping them in top condition on and off the field. It’s a unique relationship in that we are not here to replace care provided by other health care professionals, but to augment and bring value to what athletes already receive.

Ensuring the success of future leaders in sports chiropractic is as much about providing the knowledge and tools to become skillful practitioners as it is about identifying the right integrated opportunities where we can make an impact. The need for sports chiropractic will, in fact, continue to grow as we make our presence more known through successful outcomes.

ChiroHealthUSA Helps Support the Chiropractic Profession with Donations Totaling over $1,000,000

ChiroHealthFlowood, Mississippi— February 16, 2017 —

Dr. Ray Foxworth, president of ChiroHealthUSA has made it a top priority to give back to a profession that has given so much to him. In 2008, Dr. Foxworth made a commitment to donate a percentage of his company’s revenue to the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations. As part of the agreement, he committed to donating a minimum of $15,000 each year. If the revenue percentage from his company did not meet this minimum, he would personally cover the difference. He did this for a few years as ChiroHealthUSA grew.

In 2014, he raised his minimum donation to $50,000 each year to both the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations and the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. ChiroHealthUSA also supports the profession with donations to 37 chiropractic state associations, the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters, and The World Federation of Chiropractic. In addition, he established the ChiroHealthUSA Foxworth Family Scholarship in 2015.

On February 15, 2017, donations from ChiroHealthUSA surpassed the million-dollar mark. “There are no words that can truly explain what chiropractic means to me and what an incredible milestone this is for our company. From day one at ChiroHealthUSA, I wanted to give back to a profession that has meant so much to me and my family,” said Foxworth. “We all belong to chiropractic, and we all need to help, invest, and support the advancement of our profession.”

Upon hearing the news, Amy Hardin, the executive director for the Congress of Chiropractic state associations stated, “I was overwhelmed with excitement and emotion upon hearing the great news. I remember our first meeting like it was yesterday. If you have spoken with Dr. Foxworth for even a moment, you know that his enthusiasm and desire to support this profession is authentic.”

Founded in 2007, ChiroHealthUSA is a simple, compliant and profitable way for chiropractors to offer affordable care to their patients. Donations to support the profession are made possible by over 3,400 participating providers and over 448,000 families who utilize ChiroHealthUSA in their provider’s offices.
