Gert Bronfort, DC, PhD Vice President of Research at Northwestern Health Sciences University, is the recipient of the 2012 Lincoln Research Prize in Chiropractic and Biomechanics. The $20,000 prize is the largest monetary award in chiropractic research. This award is given to a chiropractic scientist who has demonstrated outstanding research contributions with direct impact on chiropractic care and/or clinical biomechanics related to patient care over the past three years.

In a career spanning more than 40 years, including 19 years in private practice, Dr. Bronfort has earned an unprecedented record in chiropractic for receiving multimillion-dollar grants from prestigious grant agencies and a long list of scientific publications in top medical scientific journals. As a researcher and academic, Dr. Bronfort stands today as one of the most respected and recognized methodologists in the areas of clinical research and randomized clinical trials. He has designed, carried out and published several landmark trials in the area of spinal manipulation and exercise for neck pain, back pain and headache. His trials are characterized by rigorous designs and have impacted the spine pain field across health care disciplines world-wide. “I am honored to be the recipient of this prestigious award and I have decided to give a portion of the prize money to our university research fellowship fund to help support the education of our current fellows,” said Dr. Bronfort.

The award was presented at the Florida Chiropractic Association National Convention in August by the Lincoln Endowed Chair at the University of South Florida, along with the Florida Chiropractic Association, Florida Chiropractic Foundation for Education and Research, and the Lincoln Chiropractic College Education & Research Fund.
