Foot Levelers Donates $23,000 to Congress of
Chiropractic State Associations

Foot Levelers continues its commitment to the chiropractic profession by donating $23,000 to the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA). This donation will support the COCSA mission, which is “to provide an open, non-partisan forum for the promotion and advancement of the chiropractic profession through service to member state associations.”

“Without the kindness and generosity of sponsors, it would be nearly impossible for volunteer organizations, like the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations, to provide the vital services to our member states and to fill the COCSA mission,” said COCSA President, Dr. Jeff Fedorko. “It is with great appreciation we accept the financial gift from Foot Levelers.”

“We are honored to support of the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations,” said Foot Levelers President and CEO, Kent S. Greenawalt. “COCSA provides an opportunity for state associations to work together and learn from each other, and Foot Levelers is proud to contribute to this effort.”

In our tradition of continuing support to the chiropractic profession, Foot Levelers has donated millions of dollars to chiropractic colleges and causes over the years. Palmer College of Chiropractic Receives Full NCA Regional Accreditation for Its Three Campuses

Palmer College of Chiropractic has earned another feather in its accreditation cap by receiving regional accreditation for all three of its campuses. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) has notified Palmer that the College—including the main campus in Davenport, Iowa, and the branch campuses in Port Orange, Florida., and San Jose, California—has been granted the full, 10-year accreditation by the NCA.

The Davenport and Florida campuses were granted re-accreditation, and the West Campus was granted accreditation by the NCA for the first time. The next comprehensive accreditation evaluation of Palmer College by the NCA will take place in 2018-2019.

The specific advantages of regional accreditation, which will now be experienced by Palmer’s West Campus along with the Davenport and Florida campuses, is that it allows for the creation of 3 + 1 agreements (transfer of credit agreements with undergraduate institutions) and generally makes it easier for students to transfer credits if they seek additional degrees beyond the Doctor of Chiropractic.

The entire NCA accreditation process was open and transparent, with regular updates on a special section of the College website, and the general public was also invited to view the Self-Study Report and make comments to the NCA.

Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Davenport, Florida and West campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and are members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The NCA may be contacted at 30 North LaSalle St., Suite 2400; Chicago, IL 60602; 1-800-621-7440 or online at www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org.

Medicare Fee Changes Delayed

Due to the Congressional action taken late last year, the proposed 21-percent decrease to Medicare reimbursement rates has been delayed until March. During the next few months, the Senate will consider a bill that will address the fee decrease for the remainder of the year. It is important to access the most up-to-date fee schedule from your local contractor to ensure you are using the appropriate fees for 2010. Note that your 2010 fees will not be identical to the 2009 fees because the values for the CMT codes changed from 2009 to 2010. Additionally, the cost of practice in every state is evaluated annually. This cost information also affects reimbursement rates. Finally, for 2010, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have begun to recoup the costs they have associated with the Chiropractic Demonstration Project through a slight reduction to the CMT codes. This adjustment will also affect CMT reimbursement. If you have a question about your fee schedule or the equation used to determine reimbursement rates, please contact the ACA Government Relations department at [email protected].
