Watsonville, California (September 9, 2015) Nordic Naturals, the #1 fish oil in the United States, has introduced its latest innovation—a breakthrough omega-3 oil. This ultra-concentrated EPA+DHA oil in the highly absorbable, triglyceride form is a first in the natural products channel.

nordic-naturals-omega“What makes this fish oil unique is the combination of very high concentration and superior absorption,” said Tone Larsen, Nordic Naturals Product Development Manager. ChiroHealthUSA Announces $10,000 Chiropractic Scholarship

Flowood, Mississippi—September 1, 2015This weekend at The National Convention and Expo, ChiroHealthUSA announced The Foxworth Family Scholarship in honor of President Dr. Ray Foxworth’s parents, Drs. Betty Pace Mathews and Charles Vernon Mathews. ChiroHealthUSA will award $10,000 to one chiropractic student each year and an additional $10,000 donation to the winning student’s chiropractic college.

Dr. Betty Pace Mathews worked as a CA for a local chiropractor before she was accepted into Chiropractic College. She worked as a vet tech by day and attended chiropractic school at night with an 8-year old Ray Foxworth sitting beside her. After graduation, she opened her practice in a small town in a state where chiropractic was not insured or even licensed yet.

Dr. Betty Mathews was clearly an inspiration, but the desire to learn and the unwavering support of his father, Dr. Charles Mathews, has had a lasting impact on his son, too.  In fact, when Dr. Foxworth graduated from Chiropractic College in 1985 and sat for the National Boards, his father was right beside him taking and passing the Boards despite not being in Chiropractic College for many years.

As a second-generation chiropractor, Dr. Foxworth did not originally plan to follow in his parent’s footsteps. Attending a state chiropractic convention in 1980, he heard his now long-time friend Dr. Sig Miller speak and it changed the course of his life. He packed up his young family, headed to Cleveland Chiropractic College, and never looked back. Over the next 30 years, he would be appointed by two governors to serve 12 years as the first chiropractor on the Mississippi State Board of Health, two of those years as chairman. He was given the opportunity to start the first chiropractic program in a Mississippi VA hospital and later became the founder and president of ChiroHealthUSA.

“It is important for me to give back to a profession that has meant so much to me and my family, not only as tribute to my parents, but as an opportunity for chiropractic students to follow in their footsteps,” Foxworth said.

Students may begin submitting applications immediately. The deadline for submissions is February 29, 2016. Winner notifications will go out on or before June 1, 2016, and the winner will be announced during The National Convention in Orlando in August of 2016.  Learn more at www.chusascholar.com.

“We all belong to chiropractic,” said Foxworth, “and we all need to help, invest, and support the advancement of our profession.”

Founded in 2007, ChiroHealthUSA is a simple, compliant and profitable way for chiropractors to offer affordable care to their patients.

LIFE WEST RUGBY WINS NATIONAL TITLE

(Hayward, CA) July 3, 2015 — The Life West Gladiators secured the USA National Championship title on June 14th at Infinity Park in Denver, Colorado by beating the Eastern Conference Champions, Wisconsin Rugby 43-24. In their second year of the program, Life West Gladiators made the National Club Championships after being runners-up in the D3 competition in 2014.

rugby-finalsThe team from Life Chiropractic College West is comprised of chiropractic students, some on scholarship and players from the local community. The team went undefeated all season with a record of 23 wins and zero losses. Their toughest encounter was against Tempe Old Devils in the National Championship Semifinal two weeks prior. In the final led by MVP Nili Latu, the Gladiators forwards laid a challenge from the opening kickoff with their powerful defense. Life West scored first when standout openside flanker Akuila Uaisele scored a try after three minutes of play.

After some bruising defense by the Life West forward pack, in particular 6th quarter student, John-Austin Colvill, the Gladiators turned the ball over and Mose Fualaau scored close to the posts. This took the Gladiators to a 14-0 lead before Wisconsin dug deep to make a game of it by leading 17-14 with ten minutes left in the first stanza.

Under pressure, this champion team took the game to another level. The green juggernaut kicked into action and the Gladiators scored another five tries.

The conditioning of the players was evident and according to Head Coach, Adriaan Ferris, the regular chiropractic care made a huge difference. He said, “We only had one major injury all season so it is clear that our strength and conditioning program, along with regular chiropractic adjustments made the difference in the end.”

rugby-finals-lineupAlong with regular chiropractic care, Life West really pushed boundaries with their professional outlook in preparing for this year’s National Championship title run. Partnering with Standard Process, Life West provided a customized nutritional program for each player that facilitated change in players’ approach to how they prepared for rugby. In addition, Foot Levelers came on board to ensure all players had the orthotic support to help with their biomechanics that they needed.

Additional training nights, regular video analysis and one-on-one player training sessions helped shape the team into champions.

Rugby and chiropractic have a long history in the United States with Palmer College and Life University being traditional powerhouse programs. Now there is a newcomer to the table. This is a program that combines the very best chiropractic care, a professional focus and the pursuit of excellence that Life Chiropractic College West is known for. Through the vision of Life West President, Dr. Brian Kelly, the rugby program is gaining tremendous momentum. Two successive division finals in consecutive years, Life West Gladiators have become the talk of USA Rugby. With the women’s team now officially started; there are only good things ahead for this young program. The best is yet to come.

ChiroTouch Tests Chiropractors’ ICD-10 Knowledge with Its Online ICD-10 Challenge

San Diego, CA – July 1, 2015 – ChiroTouch™, the nation’s leader in chiropractic software, recently added an ICD-10 coding requirements challenge to its website to help chiropractors evaluate their readiness to integrate the new coding system into their practices.

“There is a difference in believing you are ready for the ICD-10 transition and actually being ready,” said Robert Moberg, CEO of ChiroTouch. “Our ICD-10 Challenge, along with our other ICD-10 readiness tools, is designed to expose the weaknesses in our clients’ ICD-10 preparation activities so they can make the necessary changes well before the October 1st implementation deadline.”

ChiroTouch’s ICD-10 Challenge is a quick, interactive test designed to evaluate chiropractors’ level of knowledge about ICD-10’s coding requirements. Make no mistake—with nearly five times the number of codes and the increased specificity of each code, there is much to learn and much to prepare for before October 1st. ChiroTouch’s ICD-10 Challenge highlights some of the coding changes specific to chiropractic and offers chiropractors a glimpse at just how ready they are—or aren’t—for one of the most sweeping changes to the healthcare industry in decades.

“We understand how challenging it is to prepare to transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10, which is why we created a webpage specifically dedicated to providing our family of chiropractors with the tools they need to evaluate their present level of readiness,” added Moberg. “We also offer the technology and training through our software wizards, ICD-9 to ICD-10 bridge, and dedicated staff to help make the transition efficiently without negatively impacting revenue and cash flow.”

ChiroTouch offers two certified 2014 Edition Complete EHR chiropractic software systems designed from the ground up to maximize efficiencies for virtually every process, including patient self check-in, scheduling, SOAP notes, billing, interoffice communication and more. ChiroTouch has developed its HIPAA-compliant systems to drastically reduce the time it takes to perform tasks that chiropractors are already doing, thus giving chiropractors more time to see more patients—resulting in increased referrals, improved efficiencies, and a direct, measurable impact on practice profitability.

icd 10 chirotouch

San Diego, CA – June 24th, 2015 – ChiroTouch™, the nation’s leader in chiropractic software, now offers an ICD-10 Readiness Quiz on its website to help chiropractors determine their level of readiness for the October 1st ICD-10 implementation deadline.

“October 1st is right around the corner, so time is running out for members of the chiropractic profession to implement an effective plan to transition to ICD-10 with minimal interruption in cash flow,” said Robert Moberg, CEO of ChiroTouch.  “Our online quiz is one of many tools we offer to help our clients determine the steps they still need to take to become ICD-10 compliant before the new coding system goes live.”

ChiroTouch’s online ICD-10 Readiness Quiz requires about two minutes to complete and provides immediate feedback to help chiropractors assess their readiness to adopt, transition, and start using ICD-10 codes in their practices.  The purpose of the quiz is to expose implementation considerations chiropractors may not have been aware of, including making sure their EHR has been updated to allow for the migration of ICD-10 codes into their systems, knowing what to do if a carrier denies a claim due to incorrect ICD-10 codes, and creating a clear pathway to crosswalk from ICD-9 to ICD-10 for their active patients.

“No one wants to be unprepared for the October 1st deadline, but developing a plan to account for the complexities of ICD-10 is daunting,” added Moberg.  “Our hope is that our online ICD-10 Readiness Quiz, along with our other ICD-10 preparation tools, will serve as a much-needed reality check for our clients and guide them through this complex transition with confidence.”
